About Us

Tony Orellana

Tony is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and the Bear Valley Bible Institute. He received a bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Psychology. While in school at Arkansas, he realized that ministry was a field that gave him the most fulfillment, and realized he wanted to become a minister full-time. In the campus ministry, Razorbacks for Christ, he led various devotionals, taught a few series of Bible classes, and was given the opportunity to serve other congregations of the Northwest Arkansas area.

His summers from 2015-2019, he went on various mission campaigns, mostly to the Czech Republic. The first summer (2015) was a 5-week trip that consisted being a camp counselor in English camps as well as being a peer to Czech students to attract them to the church plant there. From 2016-2019, he acted as an intern spending around 10 weeks per summer except in 2019, only going for 5 weeks. In 2019, the summer was split up with 2.5 weeks in Brazil and 5 weeks in Czechia. The role he played in Brazil was too being a camp counselor, but also being an English teacher and improvised translator.

After Tony realized the program at Oklahoma Christian University was not a right fit, he made plans to attend the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver. Until he was fully funded, Tony stayed in Arkansas with one year working as the Outreach Intern for the Razorbacks for Christ campus ministry. During his time there, he coordinated and hosted outreach events at the campus ministry house, co-taught a series on Hebrews, and reached out to the student body on the University of Arkansas campus.

In 2019, Tony attended the Bear Valley Bible Institute for two years acquiring the Bachelors of Theology degree. He met his lovely wife there who happened to have the same goals for mission work as he did. They married in February 2022 and now plan to live in the Czech Republic permanently

Why Tony?

After my first summer mission campaign, I realized that ministry was my passion. Not having been raised in the church of Christ, my drive to bring the gospel to the lost has only increased. Knowing it would be wise (if not Biblical – 2 Tim. 2:2) to be trained in the faith, I attended Bear Valley to better equip myself for a life of mission work in the Czech Republic. The goal of my life is to spread God’s word in a religiously desolate location such as Czechia. With Heidi by my side, I am confident that God will be glorified in this work.

Heidi Orellana

Heidi is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary Nutrition. She also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver. Heidi would then meet her future husband at Bear Valley who happened to fit the bill of what she was looking for in a man.

Heidi’s ministry experience includes speaking and assisting the organization of two ladies’ days at the Venice church of Christ. From 2012 to 2015, she served as a junior counselor at the Weeki Wachee Christian Camp in Florida, and then from 2016 to 2018, she served as an adult counselor. Each year at camp she would lead cabin devotionals with the young women in her cabin. In 2017, she was a teacher’s assistant at the Venice church of Christ, and in 2022, she led a 6-week one-on-on Bible study with another Christian woman.

Heidi’s mission experience consists of trips to Ghana, Africa and Panama. From 2013 to 2017, she taught women and children Bible classes for 3 weeks in Ghana, Africa. She also taught a children’s weeklong Vacation Bible School in Panama.

Why Heidi?

Growing up in Southwest Florida, my home congregation (Venice church of Christ) always encouraged me to get involved in the church. From participating in church progressive dinners, lock-ins, summer camps, and speaking at ladies’ days and in the mission field. I went on my first mission trip in 2013 to Ghana, West Africa where I taught women and children about the joy found in Christ. I returned to Ghana in 2017 where I used my degree in culinary nutrition to teach the women how to both physically and spiritually provide for their homes. After my first trip to the mission field, I knew missions were always going to be a part of my life. After just over a year of working in my secular career, I knew I wanted to pursue a life of fully working for the Lord. I feel the most fulfilled when I am studying and sharing the word of God.
